Beginners Risograph Zine Making Workshop
Saturday 5th July @12:30pm-4pm
Zines (spelt like ZINE but pronounced like ZEEN taken from the word “magazine”) are self-published non-profit publications with a history rooted in DIY cultures.
Our Beginners Zine Making Workshop is designed for people who have little or no experience of Zine Making. During this hands-on session we will introduce students to a short history of zine making whilst taking a look at various examples from our Goose Studio Zine Library.
Whether you have an idea in mind for creating your own zine or not we will assist you with a series of zine prompts to get you started. The workshop covers the basics of zine making including conception/design/printing & folding. We will be printing our zines on the Riso using 2 separate colours/layers. We will be creating handmade stencils using experimental mark-making, text and collage techniques*. The zine technique we will be doing is called the 8 fold zine (this Zine fold has many names including Beak Zine & 1 page Zine) each person will leave with an edition of 10 x 2x colour/layer A6 sized zines.
This workshop also includes a short introduction to the Risograph printer!
All materials included.
*If you are competent using the Adobe suite (illustrator, indesign, photoshop) and would prefer to create your stencils digitally you can join this class - however there will be no teaching or assistance with creating your artwork digitally - we will just provide the spec to format your files ready for printing.
